It May Be Better to Pay to Have Your Flat Screen Installed by a Professional
And it comes with all the latest gadgets and gizmos to be able to decode and play some pretty astounding sound too.
So, it has to be hooked up to a theatre system (receiver) and this in turn needs to be connected to speaker. Not just two speakers though, probably five or maybe seven to get that full surround sound clarity that everyone now appears to be craving.
Coupled with the satellite receiver, Freeview digital box or cable connection, this can add up to a whole lot of cables and clips that need to be connected together in exactly the right way in order to make sure everything looks and sounds good. But there’s more.
Those cables you buy were meant to all be replaced by the HDMI standard but even that has different types to it and some cables don’t work with some equipment. I always thought standardisation was there to make things easier, not more difficult, but it appears they haven’t and for some people they’ve definitely made things a lot harder.
As things become more difficult in our home life, though, we find that people are around to make life easier for us and a whole industry has grown up around a group of people (who we probably used to call ‘nerds’) that we now rely on to make sense of all these bits of technology.
Here are a few things to consider when getting someone to hook up all your equipment.
Ask for recommendations
It’s likely that you’re going to be spending a few thousand pounds on all the equipment that you need connecting together and so ask some people who fitted their equipment. If someone is recommending someone else then it’s likely they were happy with the fitter and he didn’t stand on top of the dining room table to connect things up.
Check Insurance
Very important because if he damages anything in the house, you want to make sure that he has the relevant insurances to be able to pay for those damages.
Price
Unlike many guides I’m not going to suggest you go for the cheapest – far from it. Go for the best you can afford. Good people don’t come cheap so don’t be tempted to cut back too much. If you try to go cheap at this stage then you could be wasting the capability of your equipment.
Above all you should remember that fitting any kind of technical equipment is difficult as it’s not just about plugging in bits of wire (although that’s part of it), but it’s also about making sure that walls and brackets and hooks are all working together to keep some of the equipment off the floor.
The old TV might have been a heavy and cumbersome beast but it didn’t have to move far. Having a flat screen TV land on the carpet because the brackets can’t hold it isn’t a fun experience, so choose wisely, follow the above advice and make sure you hire the best person for the job.
You may find yourself wondering, is the installation process difficult? Do I need a professional’s help to install my newly bought LCD TV? The straight answer is NO. You don’t need to pay high professional fees to install and enjoy your luxurious and expensive TV set, homeowners can do it single handedly.
